Sharp Increase in Exports by Processing Trade in the First 10 Months

Customs statistics show that in the first 10 months total exports and imports by processing trade were US$437.158 billion, surpassing that of 2003, which were US$404.79 billion, and year-on-year increase reached 35.9%, accounting for 47.2% of total imports and exports in the same time. Of which, imports and exports in Oct by processing trade were US$49.238 billion, up by 28% on a year-on-year basis and accounting for 50.3% of total imports and exports.

In the first 10 months, exports by processing trade were US$257.998 billion, up by 34.7% and accounting for 55% of total exports. Of which, exports were US$29.183 billion in Oct., up by 26.3% and accounting for 55.6% of total exports in this month. Imports by processing trade were US$178.158 billion, up by 37.6% and accounting for 39.1% of total imports. Of which imports in Oct. were US$20.054 billion, up by 30.8% and accounting for 43.2% of total imports in the month. Meanwhile, trade surplus by processing trade reached US$78.839 billion in the first 10 months and US$9.129 billion in Oct., up by 27.5% and 17% respectively.

Regarding to types of enterprises, in the first 10 months, imports and exports of foreign investment enterprises amounted to US$357.717 billion, up by 40.6% and accounting for 81.8% of total imports and exports in the same period; Of state-owned enterprises were US$56.529 billion, and of other types of enterprises were US$22.912 billion, up by 9.2% and 47.2% respectively on a year-on-year basis and accounting for 12.9% and 5.3% respectively of total imports and exports by processing trade in the same period.

Referring to trading form, in the first 10 months, imports and exports by processing trade with import material were US$339.195 billion, up by 38.1% and accounting for 77.6% of total imports and exports by processing trade in the same period. Of which exports were US$203.556 billion and imports US$135.639 billion, up by 38.2% and 37.9% respectively on a year-on-year basis.

Exports by processing trade with supplied material were US$97.963 billion, up by 28.7% and accounting for 22.4% of total imports and exports by processing trade in the same period. Of exports were US$54.442 billion and imports US$43.521 billion, up by 23.2% and 36.3% respectively on a year-on-year basis.
